Mongolian Massage
Somehow week two is almost over! We have one day before we leave the big city and head out to the countryside. Week two just flew by because we we're busy doing so many things! On Monday we went to a beautiful Monastery and in the afternoon we got massages. I had never gotten a massage before and I was SO excited! The experience was... interesting.
The association was so cool, they teach and employ those who are blind. We all got 30 minute massages that my friends said we're not traditional to massages in the states. I really enjoyed the massage for the most part, but now I really want to get one in the U.S. If you're reading this mom, I want you to take me to get me a massage please... Thank you! :)
Anyway, the massage. We went back in groups and I was one of the last people to go. My friend Jake had finished with his massage before I even went in for mine. He came out looking a little panicked. I was already nervous because I'd never had a massage before. Jake sat down and told us it was really painful! And that the guy cracked his back a whole lot! So then I was freaking out and didn't even want to get one but also I kind of secretly still did I was just scared. Then the guy who massaged Jake was ready for another person and I was forced to get my massage. I made our translator Chimka tell the guy to be really really gentle and to not crack my back. I said it at least ten times so Chimka and the masseuse were both laughing hard at me but the guy promised to be very gentle and not crack my back. So they can laugh at me all the want, I'm getting a good massage. At least that's the hope!
It was a full body massage that started with the head. I don't know how someone would normally massage a head but the guy basically teased our hair really fast with his fingers so that everyone's hair looked insane when they came out of the massage. It was hilarious! Holly had her camera ready when we came out of the massages so I was glad I put my hair up before I left the room.
I was really amazed at how well the masseuse communicated with me when we didn't even speak the same language. I thought it was really cool! After he massaged the head and shoulders he had us lay down on the table and did a back massage which I freaking loved because I always want back massages. I probably should've had him crack it because I can't crack my own back and my rude friends won't walk on my back for me, but that's okay. Do you really need to have your back cracked regularly anyway?
So the massage was fantastic, but I am super ticklish so I was just floppin around a lot. But it was fun floppin like a fish, I like swimming.
Wow I didn't realize I had so much to say about that massage! I didn't even talk about all of it too! Sorry I said the word massage so much.
Stay posted to hear about how the rest of the week went! :)
