Mongolia is such an amazing country. I’ve had a great time just being able to walk around and experience a different country that in some ways is not so different from back home. For example, the millions of loose bricks are very reminiscent of the bricks back on campus that I bring constant fear of spraining an ankle on one of these days. One thing that stuck out to me that was not like back home were the flowers around UB. Every single planted flower has created some sort of pattern or design. That just really stood out to me as being so beautiful. I loved that there was that much care and thought into planting flowers. There is one place in Chinggis Square that has the flowers arranged to create a yin and yang symbol. On another walk we saw flowers that created the sun and the moon. Another flower arrangement was a structure that created a get out of flowers. I just loved being able to see all these individually beautiful flowers come together to create a whole of something bigger than them singularly. And I just love the idea of a collective. Of coming together and gathering to make a whole. It’s not only beautiful to look at visually and aesthetically but also beautiful in a way that it represents the strong community that is here in Mongolia.
