We are all finally in Mongolia! The past 36 hours have been pretty crazy. The day before we left consisted of packing and panicking. I never felt like I was ready to leave, but somehow we ended up leaving!
Our first flight out of Canada left at least an hour late and I was already falling asleep mid afternoon on Thursday. I got on the 10.5 hour flight feeling prepared for all the traveling ahead. So much nervousness and so much excitement!! I had an aisle seat on the flight which I was very excited about. Unfortunately I was not able to fall asleep on the plane. I don't know how I got through that flight but somehow I did. It felt like FOREVER. When we finally were getting off the flight I was not pumped that we were getting onto another one.
Because our first flight was late we only had about an hour to catch our connecting flight. We stressfully ran to the other side of the airport and got through another layer of security with no minutes to spare before the boarded us onto the second flight. Being up for almost 24 hours without sleep, I dizzily walked onto the plane. This flight was luckily only three hours, but I was not feeling to great. I couldn't keep my eyes open on the flight but I still couldn't fall asleep. We eventually arrived to Mongolia! I was so excited to be here and be done flying, but I was very out of it. We landed in Mongolia around 9am Washington time so I had officially been up over 24 hours.
We traveled to our hostel in the dark so I couldn't see much other then the giant moon. The hostel is so beautiful! It will be a very nice place to be living for the next two weeks. We split up into our rooms and I am pumped to be on the top bunk. Now that have finally arrived but our bodies think it is morning, I was wide awake. Taking a shower felt like the most refreshing thing on the planet. Because I was feeling wide awake I didn't think I would sleep well, but I was wrong. I laid down on my bed and fell asleep immediately.
I still can't really believe that I am in another country. I got my first stamp on my passport! I am on the other side of the world right now. It's crazy but also doesn't feel real.
I can't wait to go on all of our adventures, stay posted!! :)
