As I sit here with my coffee and toast with Nutella, staring out the window to the buzzing cars and skyscrapers, I still feel a bit at home. It is so comforting. Our flight from Seattle chased the sun, as almost as if the day never ended. Most people hate layovers so I guess it was fun chasing down our second flight in South Korea. We literally ran from one side of the airport to the other, all the while freaking out that Jake was going to pee himself. A whole 14 hours later and we landed in this beautiful country. Assuming we would be introduced to hot muggy weather, we stepped outside to the aromatic and fresh “petrichor” smell of rain. Driving to our hostel we saw dim shadows of buildings and bright car lights. The moon looked like a huge cheeseball so low in the sky, it kind of blended in to the neon lights on some of the buildings. Getting to our hostel was so delightful, the owner gave us refreshing water and showed us all the bathroom spots. ITS SO LIT. Our rooms have 4 bunks with teeny curtains I love it. So here I am… sipping my coffee and ready to start our first official day in Mongolia.
